Japlin started working at the beginning of 1994 at the Manufacturing Engineering Department of Thomson Television as a line trainer and at Galaxy-Aztech Pte Ltd in 1997 as a Trainer in the Human Resource Department. There, among other things, he taught students how to use pick-and-place and turret surface mount machines, how to manually and automatically insert radial and axial through-hole components, and how to manually soldering and de-soldering. He also taught the technicians and operators how to align the RF tuner air coil to function, ATE Test, and functional troubleshooting/repairs.
He has been a Certified IPC Trainer for J-STD-001 since 2001 and IPC-A-610 since 2003 and was a senior trainer/head of the Training Section at Surya Teknologi, a subsidiary of CEI Pte Ltd, an EMS in wire harness assembly, printed circuit assembly, and Boxbuild for electronics consumers, medical, oil and gas, automotive, and instrumentation. Created an annual training schedule, identified training needs, and carried out on-the-job skill certification.
Before joining Blackfox, Japlin was a J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Master IPC Trainer since 2006, first with the ACACD Pte Ltd and most recently with IPC China (Suzhou).
Japlin is currently certified as a Master IPC Trainer (MIT) in the following standards:
